30

This weekend I opted to spend time with a small group of some of my closest friends to celebrate my last weekend in my 20’s. What better way to bid adieu than with those I spent virtually every weekend of my 20’s with?! We escaped to the beach for a few days to enjoy each others company and reminisce on years gone by.

I’m not sure what it is about 30 that gets everyone so bent out of shape. I don’t feel 30 and I was carded last week for lottery tickets, so at least someone out there doesn’t think I look 30! In my mind I will always be 26.

I was going to write more here today, but I will wait until tomorrow. I want to share how I chose to celebrate this birthday in particular and hopefully many birthdays to come.

For now, feast your eyes on my single request for the weekend….that we take an old time group photo! Young at heart folks, young at heart.

A Baby Girl Luncheon

As promised, here are a few pictures that I managed to snap of Danielle’s baby shower.

Our friend Sarah was gracious enough to host the festivities at her home. We decided that a smaller, more intimate lunch would allow us more time to visit and spend with Danielle since she lives in California now.

I designed all the place settings and labels to match our shabby chic theme.

Christine ordered these OPI “It’s A Girl” nail polishes for everyone as favors. We tied labels to each one and set them out for guests to take as they left. Cute, right?!

We played a little game where we guessed the name of her little girl. My top suggestions were Cinnamon Emmons and Eminem Emmons. Try saying either one of those 5 times fast. Can’t do it.

Sarah and Chelsea decided on the menu according to Danielle’s preferences. They stayed up late the night before preparing most of the items themselves. Let me just say…..the food was amazing. And, as I learned that day, Chelsea is quite the baker and made many of the items, including this gorgeous cake, herself!

I’m sure there were so many details I let out or was unable to capture but it was such a fun experience working with my girlfriends to create such a special day for someone we love so dearly!

Also, it wouldn’t be election day without a few politically neutral words from me. Please see what I had to say on Sunny Slide Up today about keeping things in perspective.

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas!

I have been wanting to share pictures from our trip to Vegas for Claire and Brandon’s wedding but I wanted to wait to make sure Claire had the chance to go through all the pictures I took at their wedding. Until then I thought I would share some pictures from our arrival and the bachelorette/bachelor party.

I think you can probably tell (by the carefully edited…or omitted photos) that we had a great time! I will be turning 30 in November (I know, I don’t look a day over 21….you’re so sweet) and this trip taught me the harsh reality that I am officially getting old.

I can’t hang. I like going to bed at a reasonable hour and waking up at 7:30 to the sound of a toddler beating the side of his crib. Brad and I both agreed that it will probably be several years before we see the likes of Vegas again but it certainly was our best trip thus far!

I will share more photos from the wedding sometime in the next week. Claire is going to blow your mind with how incredible she looked in her dress!
