Was The Pencil Right?

Brad and I are going to have 5 children. Well, so says the Pencil Test anyway. Have you ever heard of it? As I have mentioned before, when I was pregnant with Dyce we didn’t know if we were having a little boy or girl so while at a friends house for Halloween someone decided to try out the pencil test on us. Basically, you take a pencil and tie a string to the eraser and hold it over your wrist. If the pencil sways one direction it means you are having a girl, the other direction means boy. It also tells you how many and in what order you will have them. Funny, right?
I kinda rolled my eyes at the thought of this but I thought I would humor my friend and let her try.
Boy. Girl. Boy. Boy. Boy.
I laughed. 5 children….RIGHT!!!!!
She proceeded to tell me that if it’s correct then your husband (or spouse) should match with yours. We called Brad to come inside the house and had him sit down. Without telling him the results of my pencil test we began to try it out on him.
Boy. Girl. Boy. Boy. Boy.
He laughed as he asked me what my results said. He left the room when I told him. Ha!
Flash forward almost two years and the first pencil was right on target. Boy.
……………………………………………
I have trouble taking birth control pills. YEARS ago I realized that it was probably to blame for my psychotic behavior and stopped taking it. It was amazing how much better I felt. I was no longer a raging lunatic with a short temper and constantly in a moderate state of depression. I was happy and level headed. (This has also made me realize that there are a few people from my past that I would love to apologize to if ever given the chance.)
Last week I decided to try taking it again. So far, it has been awful. I have been weepy and irritated all week. I haven’t slept much and I have almost zero motivation. Last night I confessed to Brad how I had been feeling and after a long discussion and deciding to give it a few more weeks I looked at him and said,
So this is how it happens.
He looked at me wide-eyed
How what happens?
Me
How we end up with 5 kids.
BOOM!
Have a happy weekend!
